The year is now 2820, the federation has been crumbling for centuries, and Starfleet has become a bureaucracy. The Federation is now trying to rebuild, and StarFleet is moving once more toward being a military force, rather than another part of the government. In recent events the evolved Borg known as Darkarians have finally reached their ultimate goal of controlling the Federation. They are now attempting to take Quo'nos and Romulas to solidify their hand in the Alpha Quadrant. So far their presence in Quadrants other than their home, the Delta Quadrant, has been minimal.

USI was all that remained of the free powers of the universe willing to stand up against the corrupt Federation and the Darkarians. Soon others such as the Star Command Militia, the Intelligence Stratigem of the Obdasian and Metorian Empire's followed. All are willing to help USI destroy the threat of the Darkarians, but only if they can get over their own differences first.
